Today you will fly from OR Tambo Airport to Hoedspruit Airport. On arrival you will be collected by your guide and transferred to the ultra luxurious Kapama Southern Camp.
Southern Camp is the proud new addition to the Kapama Private Game Reserve family, and is situated in the south of the Big Five game reserve. It offers luxury game lodge accommodation, warm hospitality and friendly service in a tranquil setting that will be savored by even the most discerning nature lover.
The day starts with an early wake-up call between 5:00 am and 5:30 am. Tea, coffee and rusks are enjoyed together before heading out at first light. While seeing big game is always exhilarating, there are many other smaller species that are also captivating, and birding enthusiasts will be delighted at the approximately 350 species of birds recorded on the reserve. Halfway through the game drive, there’s a stop for hot drinks and snacks, before returning to the lodge at around 9:00 am for a full breakfast. Throughout the day, it’s likely you will see wildlife around the lodge – nyala antelope and vervet monkeys are frequent visitors, though seeing some of the Big Five is also not uncommon.
At around 3:30 pm, everyone gathers for a decadent high tea, before heading out with your ranger and tracker for the afternoon game drive through the reserve. En route, you’ll stop for a sundowner drink and will have a chance to stretch your legs as you watch the sun set over the distant peaks of the Drakensberg mountains.
As darkness falls, the nocturnal animals of the bush come out. The skilled tracker will scan the landscape using a spotlight, which illuminates animals’ eyes. A variety of completely different species can be seen on the night drive back to the lodge. Arrival is at the lodge is usually around 7:00 pm, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying a sumptuous dinner.
The final day of your Safari will see you go on one last safari drive before breakfast is served. After breakfast there is time to pack before checking out. After check out you will be transferred to Eastgate Airport for your flight to OR Tambo Airport.
Your guide will be waiting for you to take you to the Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria for your journey to Cape Town by luxury rail.
You Depart from Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria at 15:00. Dinner and overnight on the train.

Highlights of the north- and southbound routes include a visit to the historic village of Matjiesfontein; this authentic perfectly preserved Victorian Village – founded by Mr Logan as a refreshment stop in 1890 – also boasts an impressive museum on the platform. Another stop is made in Kimberley providing an opportunity to enjoy a city tour and a visit to the Diamond Mine Museum and the world’s largest man-made excavation, the Big Hole.
10h00 the train arrives in Kimberley. Passengers visit the Big Hole and the Diamond Mine Museum.
12h30 Depart Kimberley and proceed overnight via De Aar and Beaufort West to Matjiesfontein.
08h15 Enjoy a visit to the historic village of Matjiesfontein.
10h30 The train departs for Cape Town via Touws River and Worcester.
18h00 Arrive at Cape Town Station’s Platform 24.

Today you can enjoy breakfast at the hotel. You are expected to check out by 10:00am. We can arrange for your to leave your baggage at the hotel if you still want to do last minute shopping in Cape Town.
A transfer to the airport has been arranged for you and you will be collected from the hotel at your pre-arranged time.
